Post 1: Personal Bio

Hi Everybody! My name is Ivy. I am 33, I live in Falls City, OR. Falls City is a town of about 900 people, just outside of Dallas, OR. I wasn't born here, but have lived here for almost a year. My folks live here, so it is nice to be close. I'm originally from Lincoln City which is on the central Oregon coast. I went to University of Oregon for my undergraduate studies and earned a Bachelor Degree in English Literature. Sometimes people ask me what I would do with an English Degree. The answer is, "I don't know." I love to read and write and I love literature, so it was a pleasure studying something I love so much. My English degree let me to teaching. I began working with children in college, mostly toddlers, and love it. After college I ended up teaching preschool at a Head Start Program. After a couple of years of teaching I moved into a management role. I have missed being in the classroom and with the children, that is why I am pursuing my Master of Arts in Teaching. One day I would love to teach in a bilingual Kindergarten, 1st or 2nd grade classroom. I love working with younger children. I don't have any children of my own yet, but I do have 2 golden retrievers named Rex and Rosie. They are siblings and they are about 1 1/2 years old. They make me laugh everyday. Even though they are siblings they are very different. They love to go hiking with me. There are some very beautiful areas to hike in Oregon and I look forward to visiting those places with Rex and Rosie. I am very excited to be in the Willamette MAT program! I look forward to working with my classmates in order to become the best teacher I can!

  1. Falls City. I taught in Dallas for 7 yrs, and did a lot of running and hiking in the Falls City area. Indeed a beautiful area to settle.
Best wishes during your next year and a half as you strive to get the most out of all your experiences.
